Converse is gearing up to make a fresh entry into the basketball market. In a world that is getting increasingly shaped by social media and the image which the brand projects to the public, the prominence that the sporting culture seems to be increasing by the day. Converse, who is on a new mission is looking to focus some of its creative energy on the basketball frontier.
The company, which is a subsidiary of Nike Inc., have kicked off their efforts by signing young Washington Wizards forward Kelly Oubre Jr, per an ESPN report. The deal was made official with a video which announced Oubre Jr. as the new headliner for the apparel company. Oubre Jr. has been signed on a multi-year footwear endorsement deal which will see him feature in lifestyle campaigns, while also being consulted for his input and feedback on prospective footwear ideas and urban campaigns to promote the shoes.
However, while Converse will keep him engaged for the off-court appeal, he will still be required to don Nike sneakers while when on the court for the duration of the contract’s validity.
Oubre Jr. shared his excitement stating:
“It’s a different vibration when it comes to someone who is trying to reinvent themselves in something that they started. It’s not necessarily someone trying to come in and disrupt the game, or someone trying to step onto the scene as newcomers again. [Converse] started this, and it’s cool to be a part of something with the exclusivity to work with this company, start a partnership and a foundation.”
Oubre Jr. plays as a small forward for the Washington Wizards and was selected in the 2015 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks. His rookie contract with Adidas expired recently, and while he has been courted by the likes of New Balance and Puma, he decided to go with Converse, due to the admiration he has for the lifestyle brand as well as the unusual nature of the deal.

47-year old actor David Arquette was left with a bloodied nose on Friday night as he completed his return to wrestling, TMZ reports. The event which was organized by Game Changer Wrestling at LA Confidential was aired at Fite TV on a pay-per-view basis.
Arquette, who was the star of popular horror movies such as Scream and The Tripper, competed in a promotional wrestling Deathmatch, notorious for allowing makeshift weapons, in Los Angeles against the professional wrestler and ex-convict Nick FN Gage.
Arquette, who wasn’t the first choice for the matchup, but was replacing an injured Joey Ryan, ran out of the ring at one point, after Gage had smashed light tubes over his head and sliced his neck with shards of glass.
The ex-convict also put Arquette through a door that had a spear inserted on its corners, hitting the actor’s head. It wasn’t all Gage, though, as Arquette had his moments in the match, particularly when he smashed a cannonball on Gage, after taking a beating from the light tubes used to restrict his movement.
Gage won the Deathmatch by pinning Arquette, a former World Wrestling Champion, who at that point, was more concerned with the bleeding than winning the match. Arquette, who had told Fox News, he was staging a comeback into professional wrestling in September had stated at the time:
“I literally feel like I’m Rocky, I mean like I’m in the gym sweating like crazy going to the gym every day for hours, you know, getting it, so I don’t get winded so easily and putting on muscle losing a bunch of weight, so it’s all about training, it’s all about determination, it’s all about, you know, believing in yourself.”
Visibly shaken, as the blood ran through his face, Arquette ran out of the ring the second Gage was declared the winner of the matchup. He later sent out a series of tweets explaining that he was getting the necessary treatments, adding:

Floyd Mayweather has now come out to say that the fight against Japanese kickboxer Nasukawa is going to happen on the originally proposed date, just days after claiming he was set up by the Japanese fighting company Rizin.

Floyd Mayweather has told TMZ that the fight is back on and will be a ‘no kicking’ nine-minute exhibition and will be the highest paid exhibition fight in history.
Two weeks ago, retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather surprisingly took the mic at a press conference in Tokyo, Japan, to announce a New Year’s Eve fight against Tenshin Nasukawa. A disheveled Floyd looked lost and confused at the time that led many to pour scorn on the proposed fight. A scam alert was raised across the internet and seemed to be right.
As soon as Floyd landed back in America after his visit to the Orient, he quickly poured water on the fight on his Instagram account to reveal he was blindsided by the Japanese MMA fighting company Rizin.
Floyd said on Instagram that he thought it was going to be an exhibition fight and then Rizin flipped the script on him without warning. It seems that Rizin and Floyd might have come to a deal after all.

Some people started to believe that maybe Floyd had been paid a large sum of money to appear at the press conference to promote the Rizin New Year’s Eve event and it was all a ruse. However, Mayweather has more recently told the entertainment and gossip website TMZ a completely different story:
“There’s no official fight. It’s an exhibition. A small, nine-minute exhibition. No kicking. It’s going to be the highest paid exhibition ever. Just for promoting this event I’ve made seven figures. It’s a no-brainer. Just because I’m retired, I still make appearances around the world and make a ton of money.”

It’s hard to imagine how Blac Chyna would need thousands of dollars, a month, to support a toddler. Even with private daycare and a trip to Whole Foods every-other-day, she would have a hard time going through a few thousand in a month.

Is it out of line to speculate on how nearly a quarter of a million dollars is spent on a child annually? Given the circumstances, I think it is fine.
The average household income in the USA is a wee bit north of $50,000 USD. That means Rob Kardashian has to pony-up FIVE TIMES the amount of money that an entire family survives on for one child.
Blac Chyna clearly has a tremendous legal team and is probably skimming that child support like a fiend.
While I have no evidence to support this, her propensity to spend thousands of dollars on athletic footwear may suggest that she isn’t the best custodian of her child’s money.
She is also the reason Rob Kardashian seems to feel shy on social media. This seems more like a cop-out on his part, because he’s the reason he hasn’t been able to use social media to pimp socks (according to him).
If he didn’t post those nudes, she never would have taken out that restraining order.

Mommy Jenner Saves the Day
According to court documents, Kris Jenner:
“infused it [Arthur George] with capital… and from her infusion gained a 50% share in the company.”
That is an extremely nice way to say that Rob Kardashian made a string of terrible decisions, both personal and professional (if these people even make that kind of distinction anymore), and needed his mother to bail him out.
Now that mom is on-board, she may be able to turn the failing luxe sock brand around. She has been somewhat successful in doing a similar thing with another one of her children’s companies.
Last year she took over Kylie Cosmetics, which had been founded by her daughter. She spruced up the brand with flashy Kris Jenner pics and renovated the brand identity.
All of this begs the question: is Kris Jenner the mother of a family, or a shrewd venture capitalist?
Like most artists, rapper Tee Grizzley had dues to pay. He is a native of Detroit, Michigan. For those of you that don’t know, places like Detroit have been discarded by the US economy. Now they resemble a mix of movies like ‘Escape from New York’, and ‘Children of Men.’
Tee Grizzley was able to transcend his surroundings to a greater degree than most. Although he was convicted of robberies in both Michigan and Kentucky, he has gotten past a rough patch in his life.
He was released from prison in 2016, but he has been on parole until recently. This made putting a lot of time into recording difficult. It also severely limited his ability to do shows for his growing fan base. Now Tee Grizzley is off parole, and has been granted a US passport!

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Tee Grizzley mused that:

Today he is getting invitations from all over the world. Tee Grizzley has the ability to travel, and give his fans what they’ve been waiting years to experience.
There does seem to be a rising tide of interest in Tee Grizzley’s music from far-flung locations. According to him:
“I can go to other places and touch base with my fans. I’m excited to go to the places that hurried up and booked me! I feel like that’s where the fanbases are at China, Dubai, Paris, Australia.”

Today, plastic surgery techniques have come a long way from where they were a few decades ago.
Some of the early pioneers of modern plastic surgery cut corners and their patients paid the price. It’s hard to know how to feel about some of these celebrities, most of whom clearly took risks with their bodies for simple vanity.
Here are some of the most dramatic examples of plastic surgery gone terribly wrong. It’s probably OK to feel a little sorry for these celebrities, as some of them didn’t have the easiest lives. They all suffered for beauty, and never got what they paid for.
1. Pete Burns
Pete Burns had a lifelong fascination with plastic surgery, by his own admission. Although he passed away recently, Burns spent most of his later life fighting against lip injections that were a horrendous mistake.
The lead singer and founder of the 80s pop group ‘Dead or Alive’ spent most of his fortune on repairing the lip-job gone rogue, before recovering £450,000 from Dr. Maurizio Viel via an out-of-court settlement.
Dr. Maurizio Viel had injected Pete Burns’ lips with a concoction of his own invention, which ended up being extremely toxic. As the injections spread throughout his face, he developed painful, pus-filled blisters that would explode unexpectedly.
Some of the doctors he saw thought that lip amputation was the only option, but he was able to find an Italian plastic surgeon who saved his face. Eventually, things returned to relative normality for Pete Burns, but he learned a painful lesson about experimental plastic surgeries that cost a fortune.
2. Michael Jackson
Growing up as Joe Jackson’s son in Gary, Indiana probably wasn’t easy.
It wouldn’t do justice to the physical and psychological abuse that Michael Jackson suffered to gloss over the highlights, but this ‘obituary‘ for old Joe from The Guardian does a decent job at listing his catalog of horrors.
Regardless of what ’caused’ Michael to pursue a plastic surgery program that transformed him from a dark-skinned African-American, into a, well, very light-skinned person who could best be described as ‘androgynous’, he certainly did it.
One thing that is probably simple to explain in psychological terms is the nose that Michael ended up with. His father liked to call him “big nose” when he was young, after finding out that Michael was self-conscious about it.
Curiously, Michael was also diagnosed with discoid lupus erythematosus. Dermatologist Richard Stricksaid said that he:
“could see the disease had destroyed nose cartilage, which might have explained some of Michael’s plastic surgery.”
Michael was also severely injured by fire during the production of a 1984 Pepsi commercial, which forced him to receive skin grafts on his face. All that said, he probably did some of that cosmetic surgery for ‘personal’ reasons.
3. Renee Zellweger
Unlike the rest of the people on this list, Renee Zellweger may or may not have been altered surgically for cosmetic reasons. Many people think that she has, and she has been pretty touchy on the subject.
There is irony in the fact that a public personality would be offended by the scrutiny that is sure to come with fame, especially if they make their millions by appearing in feature films.
Renee Zellweger is worth around $60 million USD, and you can guess where she made the money!
So, let’s leave the question of whether or not Renee had cosmetic surgery open, and say that if she did, she was able to afford the best people for the job, and pay them well enough to keep quiet.
4. Joan Van Ark
Nothing lasts forever, except the chemicals that were apparently injected into Joan Van Ark’s face.
To be fair to the actress, she was born in the 1940s and probably hated to see what the ravages of time do to beauty. There is, of course, no way to stop the aging process. She did try, which left her with a face that probably isn’t what she bargained for.
Depending on which celebrity blog one reads, a laundry list of cosmetic procedures is alleged as the reason for Joan’s current appearance. She is also 75 years old, so we should probably cut her some slack.
5. Michaela Romanini
Why do attractive people think that jamming odd substances in their face will make them better looking?
Michaela Romanini was something akin to Italy’s Paris Hilton. Famous for being rich, and well connected to other famous people.
Then she got addicted to collagen injections or something. Whatever she going on in her head had a dramatic effect on her appearance, and now she looks like an extraterrestrial clown.
Finding out exactly what she did to herself is probably difficult, but whatever it was. It didn’t do anything to help her beauty. Hopefully Michaela Romanini’s experience with plastic surgery will act as a warning to other celebrities!

The last few weeks especially, the pressure has been mounting to disassociate herself from Sir Green after he was named in the Lords as being at the center of a series of harassment and bullying allegations. He strongly denies the claims, however, for a female fashion brand, even a whiff of sexual harassment is not a good look.
Yesterday, the singer took action, buying out 100% of his share in her sportswear brand.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, Parkwood, Beyonce’s company confirmed the transaction, a spokesperson for the company said:
“After discussions of almost a year, Parkwood has acquired 100 percent of the Ivy Park brand…. “Topshop/Arcadia will fulfill the existing orders.”
She is now said to have cut all ties with the businessman.

Beyonce launched Ivy Park clothing alongside Topshop in 2016, at the time saying:
“I have always loved Topshop for their fashion credentials and forward thinking.”
She later helped the Topshop billionaire to open up the company’s flagship store in New York. With her Ivy Park collection, the singer says that she wants to “push the boundaries of athletic wear,” presumably showing women around the world that you can run a treadmill in four-inch heels.
Beyonce’s fans will be pleased with the move to break away from the disgraced businessman. The news comes just days after Simon Cowell also reportedly severed ties with Sir Phillip Green, although the America’s Got Talent judge, business tycoon, and music producer insisted that he had cut contact with Sir Green months prior to the recent claims.
Unlike the rest of the people on this list, Renee Zellweger may or may not have been altered surgically for cosmetic reasons. Many people think that she has, and she has been pretty touchy on the subject.
